Humberston development wins prestigious national development award
Humberston Avenue in Lincolnshire has been named the Residential Project of the Year in the Greater Lincolnshire Construction & Property Awards
Humberston Avenue in Lincolnshire has been named the Residential Project of the Year in the Greater Lincolnshire Construction & Property Awards.
The development is a joint venture project between Keystone Developments, part of Longhurst Group, and Countryside Partnerships East Midlands.
Delivering 400 new homes, including 200 family homes on Humberston Meadows and 200 for retirement living on Carrington Gardens, incorporating 100 affordable properties, Humberston Avenue also includes a new community hub and over six acres of public open space.
Construction commenced in February 2016 and Humberston Avenue is being developed in phases. The community hub and first phase have been completed and are now in use, with a further eight phases scheduled before completion in June 2021.
Nick Worboys, Longhurst Group’s Director of Development, said: “We are very proud of the Humberston Avenue development, which includes our Carrington Gardens retirement living scheme, and are delighted it has been named as Residential Project of the Year.
“The development is a shining example of the fantastic partnerships between ourselves, RG+P, Countryside and the local authority, who have worked together brilliantly to bring this now-award-winning project to fruition.
“We have engaged with the local community from the very inception of the project and the response we have received has been fantastic.
“Only one bungalow remains available from the first phase of retirement properties, with a further phase set to be released in the Spring. Meanwhile, phases 3 and 4 of the family housing is near completion and open to viewings across a variety of tenures and house types.”
Now in their third year, the Greater Lincolnshire Construction & Property Awards are designed to recognise the county’s flagship schemes and teams as well as highlight opportunities for collaborative working.
John Roberts, lead architect on the scheme at rg+p added: “Humberston Avenue represents a major investment in Lincolnshire and is undoubtedly making a positive contribution to the county’s housing market.
“A complex project due to its size, we designed the scheme to provide a real sense of community, with the hub as a focal point. Courtyard clusters of homes follow varying themes such as sport and activity, water and nature to provide distinctive senses of place, with both the material palette and communal gardens complementing this.
“Experts from our in-house architectural, landscape, masterplanning and visualisation teams have worked seamlessly alongside our project partners on the scheme and we’re exceptionally proud it has been recognised with this award from the local business community.”
